Dr. Arick has experience working as an educator, researcher and trainer in the field of autism for over 30 years. He is the lead author of the nationally used STAR (Strategies for Teaching based-on Autism Research) Program and Links Curriculum. He is also a co-author of several other published programs in the area of autism. These programs include the ASIEP-3 (Autism Screening Instrument for EducationalPlanning-3, 2004), the KADI (Krug Asperger Disorder Index,2003), and the FACTER Program (Functional Assessment and Curriculum for Teaching Everyday Routines, 2004). Dr. Arick, with colleagues, has been measuring the progress of children educated using the STAR Autism Program, over the past ten years. He is also an author of a chapter entitled “School-based Programs for Children with Autism” in the Handbook on Autism (2005). Dr Arick is Professor Emeritus at Portland State University.

Sheila Magee, MS


Sheila has served in public schools for over 30 years as a classroom teacher, school psychologist and administrator. She has coordinated programs for children with autism at both the pre-school and school-age level. The programs she coordinated have implemented the STAR Program and served as model training sites. She has many years of experience coaching and implementing the strategies found in the STAR Program, including: Discrete Trial Training, Pivotal Response Training, Teaching Functional Routines and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. In addition to her work in the schools, Sheila has also taught classes at the university level preparing educators in the field of special education.

Dr. Kemmerer has been working with children with autism since 1994. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and received her PhD in Special Education with an emphasis in applied behavior analysis from the University of Iowa. Some of Lisa’s work experiences include: faculty positions at multiple universities, autism coordinator for the University of Iowa, Children’s Hospital Autism Center, behavior analyst with school districts in Iowa and West Virginia, special education teacher, and paraprofessional.

Tracy Uden M.Ed., BCBA


Tracy has worked in public education for over a decade as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and as an autism specialist. Tracy works with STAR Autism Support to provide training during workshops and on-site consultations. She received her Master’s degree in education from Arizona State University and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She currently resides in Grand Junction, CO.

Aimee Dearmon

Aimee Dearmon, MS, CCC-SLP, BCBA

Aimee is a speech and language pathologist (SLP) and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst(BCBA) who has over 15 years of experience serving students with autism in public, private and home settings. In addition to providing workshops and training in schools across the country and Puerto Rico, Aimee works with STAR Autism Support to manage and develop large projects. Her work includes developing workshops, building training sites, and coaching staff to successfully implement The STAR Program and Links Curriculum in several states, regions, and districts. Aimee is passionate about raising awareness for autism in her community and has led fundraising efforts at the local and regional levels.

Kathleen Mckeown

The American certified CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology), expert in communication disorder and swallowing disorder. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree of Arts in Communication Disorder from University of Central Florida, America; Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology from College of Biblical Studies - Houston,America. She had been engaged in the career of language therapy for 21 years,and worked as clinical speech pathologist in different schools and rehabilitation centers, such as the American EBS/Core medical Group, Meinhardt Comprehensive Therapy Center, and Norwalk rehabilitation center. She is skillful in providing professional language assessment, therapy and training for children with autism, delayed development, cognitive disorder, swallowing disorder,etc. She was invited to conduct several lectures for training therapists, special education teachers and parents in the UK. She has designed and implemented projects in schools to improve people’s understanding to language-communication disorder, and has achieved the affirmation from the British government. During 2014-2015,Kathleen Mckeown has worked as the international language therapy tutor for OST.

Cristina Sakthivel

The American certified CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology),expert in cerebral palsy and deaf infant; the clinical hearing pathology and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) expert certified in ASHA (American Speech-Language Hearing Association). She obtained her master’s degree in speech-language pathology and audiology, Sacramento, California State University, America. For about ten years of time, she worked for San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), and provided cognitive assessment, individualized planning, and therapy for children with speech-language disorder, swallowing disorder and cognitive disorder.She has rich experience in treating children with various kinds of complex communicative disorders such as cerebral palsy, autism, deafness/ cochlear implantation, Angelman's syndrome,etc.She is skillful in providing PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) training to parents and their children. For a long period of time she has been engaging in clinical practice and scientific research in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), designing AAC system for children with communication disorder necessity, and is good at programming the high-tech communication devices. During 2014-2015,Cristina Sakthivel has worked as the international language therapy tutor for OST.

Member of Hong Kong Speech-language and Hearing Association certified swallowing therapy therapist, certified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) trainer, finished level 1,2 and 3 course of American SRJ Oral-Motor Therapy program;

Former chairman and secretary of the Hong Kong Speech-language and Hearing Association; Provides professional services to Guangzhou and Shenzhen center for therapist training, course design,assessment,parent training and constructing of therapy reports etc.

Acquired certificate of early childhood education instructor, certificate of early childhood emotion development, certificate of play therapy, certificate of music therapy; rehabilitation training (children with autism, language and social impairment);

Worked in Hong Kong speech therapy community center, special children center and kindergarden;

Worked at OST for 7 years, responsible for carrying out assessment, training and course development, specialized at designing individualized treatment plan under areas of language comprehension and expression as well as social behavior

Studied rehabilitation psychology at Beijing Union Medical College in year of 2000;

Attended speech-language therapy course at Rehabilitation Centre of Japan Tottori Prefecture Yonago Medical College, acquired certificate of speech and swallowing therapy in year of 2005;

Finished level 1,2,3 and 4 course of American SRJ Oral-Motor Therapy program.

Founder of OST and participates in setting up therapy centers since 2007. She leads expert team from HQ to visit patients regularly in all centers. Meanwhile, she also works with international therapy team to develop new treatment program and applies to clinical treatment.
